Do you need a new roof?

Do you really need a new roof?

Why would you fit a new roof when some well conceived repairs would suffice? You wouldn’t would you? Yet, sadly, a lot of people do. In our experience, many larger contractors are not able to carry out small repairs cost effectively. As a result, whether it is necessary or not, they tend to recommend that the roof be replaced because total replacement is the most cost effective option they can offer you. So if you have been told by a major contractor that you need a new roof and are contacting us for a second opinion you may be pleasantly surprised by our recommendations. Even if your roof requires extensive repairs there are still options open to you which are cheaper, hassle-free to apply and less disruptive than removing the entire structure of your old roof and building another.

If your existing roof is flat, you may decide to convert it to a pitched roof. That said, many modern flat roofing systems are excellent and we can apply a wide range of alternative systems in different price ranges. Whether your roof is flat or pitched, we may be able to apply oversheeting over the top, leaving the existing structure where it is and minimising on any disruption the work will cause.

Once you know your options, the solution you apply may well be influenced by the budget available to you and the amount of disruption you wish to inflict on the building’s occupants, be they tenants or your own company.
