Asbestos Problems

If your asbestos roof is leaking or unsound the easiest, safest, most environmentally-friendly way to deal with it – not to mention the most cost effective – is to leave it where it is and put a new roof over the top.

Did you know that asbestos roofing, itself, is actually safer to work with than MDF because the panels are made of asbestos cement? The harmful fibres remain trapped inside and are not released unless the panel is broken or cut. In other words, an asbestos roof is perfectly harmless until it is removed.

We have sourced a wide range of over-sheeting and cladding systems which we can fit over the top of the existing roof. These bring several added benefits.

1. Fitting is more convenient. You will not have to move out of the premises so there will be less disruption of your workforce inside.
2. Fitting is safer. Unbroken asbestos roofing panels present little or no risk to your workforce. It is removing the roof which is dangerous since it is when tiles or panels break that fibres may be released.
3. You can put insulation in the gap between the old roof and the new or – if your roof is a newer type – you can have over-sheeting fitted with insulation built in. Either option can help reduce heat loss from the building and save on your energy bills.
4. There are no disposal issues.
